Strategic shopping outfit.

While this particular outfit may not blow your mind, nor any other part of your anatomy for that matter, it does serve a very specific purpose.

Yesterday morning was the launch of the Boxing Day sales in the city, and while I wasn’t there for the opening of the doors at 5am, I was there not long after, starting the shopping expedition at 6am.

Starting so early, this day had potential to be quite the marathon shopping session, and of course, a war of attrition with other bargain hunters when jostling for those super specials bound to be on offer.

This, Occasional Reader, is my Strategic Shopping Outfit for such an occasion.

The shoes, while too heavy for street shopping, are perfect for imposing oneself on a department store throng of sales hungry shoppers. In addition to adding bulk and height, they are also very easy to slip on and off in the change room or on the shoe fitting lounge.

(Shopping hint: If you’re lucky enough to be in a race to get to the shoe clearance table against a parent with child in tow, step on the back of child’s shoe. The resulting stumble by the child will slow the parent down, allowing you past to snaffle the bargains first. Of course, despite the protestations, the parent will simply blame the child for slowing them down.)

The jeans are equally easy to slip on and off in the change room or on the shoe fitting lounge… Okay, maybe just the change room. They also have spiders sewn on them to scare off potential competitors for that last size on the rack.

The shirt is the most functional part of this outfit.

Obviously one must have a full button shirt for such expeditions, for one must maintain one’s hairstyle when shopping and nothing ruins a hairstyle quicker than slipping a shirt on and off over one’s head numerous times.

The press stud buttons ensure a fast disrobe, and have the added advantage of sounding like a super hero getting changed when the shirt is ripped open. So much so, one has to control oneself from jumping out of the change room in the new shirt with hands on hips, yelling “Taadaaa!”

I managed to restrain myself from doing exactly that.

What I did do, though, was pick up a few hot clothing bargains, and even hotter shoe specials which I’ll be sure to introduce you to very soon.

For now, give this outfit a chance to blow you….r mind.
